Devon Doctors to reap benefit of information sharing with surgeries
Devon Doctors stands to benefit from a landmark agreement between NEW Devon and 73 GP practices, as the CCG works to bring digital maturity to the county.
Agreements to electronically share information with fellow clinicians outside the GP surgery mean that the health service can avoid costly, time-consuming phone calls and paper chases.
GP practices decide which hospitals and care providers they wish to share with [currently Devon Doctors, Northern Devon Healthcare Trust & Devon Partnership Trust]. Then, at each and every encounter outside the GP practice, the patient decides whether they will permit their record to be viewed by the clinician who is treating them.
Patients will not have to repeat their medical history so often; clinicians will have access to up-to-date and accurate information, without delay and with the consent of the patient at the start of their treatment.
