All telephone calls to and from our organisation are recorded for your protection and monitoring purposes. They may be used for training and audit purposes to maintain our quality and high standards. Patient confidentiality is important, however, in certain circumstances, in order to ensure that your care needs are met, it may be necessary to share your details with other health and social care professionals.

What happens after you call us

A GP or nurse practitioner will telephone to clinically assess and advise you. As we do not normally have access to the records held at your surgery, it would be helpful if you could have details of any current medication the patient is taking.

The outcome may be:

• Advice on self-treatment at home

• Attending a local treatment centre Read more

• A GP coming out to visit Read more

Our medical team includes GPs, nurse practitioners and fully supervised doctors in GP training. Occasionally you might be asked if a medical student can see you in addition to the medical staff.

Details of your contact with Devon Doctors are sent to the patient’s GP practice the next working day.
